Completed
DC Motor Project
Built a working DC motor as a hands-on exploration of electrical and magnetic principles, Lorenz force, and mechanical commutation.
I’m an electrical engineering student from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, passionate about technology, hands-on experimentation, software, and music. I enjoy exploring how things work, building practical solutions, and turning ideas into working projects.
Bridging theoretical physics and physical prototypes with modern software development and acoustic harmony.
I’m Yafet Assefa, an electrical engineering student and hands-on builder interested in understanding how the world works. From building physical prototypes to experimenting with software, I enjoy taking ideas beyond theory and turning them into practical projects.
My interests extend beyond engineering. Music gives me another way to explore patterns, creativity, and expression. I enjoy learning across disciplines, experimenting with new tools, and improving through the process of building.
A selection of physical engineering builds, collaborative STEM models, software prototypes, and creative systems.
Completed
Built a working DC motor as a hands-on exploration of electrical and magnetic principles, Lorenz force, and mechanical commutation.
Completed
Collaborated with the Space Science Club on a hydraulic rocket model, investigating pneumatic pressure, fluid mechanics, and flight stability.
Completed
Explored electromagnetism through the construction of wound electromagnets and practical experiments with magnetic field flux patterns.
Prototype
Explored the development of web applications using modern web development tools, AI-assisted platforms, and Telegram Mini Apps.
Concept
Explored the architectural design of an application transforming sung/played melodies into readable sheet music via DSP algorithms.
Organized by discipline without arbitrary percentages—reflecting hands-on physical engineering, software development, and music theory.
Circuits, motors, electromagnetism, and physical systems.
Web applications, AI-assisted development, and Telegram Mini Apps.
Building, testing, troubleshooting, and iterating on physical projects.
Breaking down complex technical challenges into practical steps.
Guitar, baritone vocals, chord voicings, and music theory.
Academic distinction, hands-on student leadership, and current undergraduate engineering studies.
Pursuing rigorous foundational studies in electrical circuits, electromagnetism, and physical computing. Applying analytical mathematical frameworks to real physical engineering prototypes.
Graduated as Grade 12 Valedictorian with a verified 100 average, reflecting unwavering curiosity, disciplined study habits, and consistent academic excellence.
Co-founded and led a student club centered on aerospace science, rocketry, and hands-on STEM experimentation. Coordinated team activities including the design and field launches of hydraulic rocket models.
Music is another way I explore patterns, structure, and creativity. Through guitar and singing, I enjoy discovering how individual notes, chords, and rhythms come together to create something expressive.
Just as electrical circuits rely on closed loops and balanced impedances, musical progressions depend on tension, resolution, and voice leading. I view the guitar fretboard as a harmonic matrix of intervals and frequencies.
Recordings will appear here once published by Yafet.
I’m interested in meaningful projects, technical challenges, learning opportunities, and collaborations that bring ideas to life.
